Raw was the original way to eat. I think it’s important for people to do what makes them happy if it’s not hurting anyone else. Not every vegetarian is looking to convert the world. I will admit though, after going raw recently after being a “normal” vegetarian for 18 years, there’s nothing like it. I feel so fantastic. It’s like having a fog lifted. No more of the chemicals, hormones, antibiotics, preservatives, and other crap they put in processed food or inject into animals.

@pfowler20 Wikipedia has this quote on their page about Spirulina: “The bioavailability of vitamin B12 in Spirulina is in dispute.” I think it would be better to take a B12 supplement. Also, since there are proteins in many vegetables, protein shouldn’t be a problem at all if you eat enough of the right vegetables, nuts, etc. But B12 deficiency is something to check into, and algae, seaweed, etc., might not be efficient. There are a lot of hokey sites and claims out there.

Raw foodists should be careful about Vitamin B12 deficiency, which can be fatal. Vitamin B12 is hardly found in fruits and vegetables. There are fortified cereals that have it, but I don’t know if raw foodists eat that. They have B12 supplements.

Every nutritionist knows that everyone’s body is different. The only thing nutritionists can say for everyone is less fast food and more vegetables. Not even every nutritionist agrees on the issues of fruit and protein.

LOL. noooo. A raw foods diet and a vegetarian diet are two different things.
Vegetarians eat everything omnivores meat, sans the meat. So they still eat Doritos, tortilla chips, chocolate cakes, pudding, etc. Just no meat.

This is somewhat incorrect. Korea has developed a small industry that makes raw grain/meal, that’s flash freeze-dried, crushed, and mixed according to Chinese Medicine Theory to your body type. Very satisfying, convenient, ‘not bad’ taste.

I agree…if we were in the forest foraging for food like in other countries…there would be no need for nutritionists!!
