I think banning retouching is throwing the baby out with the bathwater. What we should do is make people more aware that the photos we see on the covers have been retouched. Maybe you can put a thumbnail of the original photo inside the cover or on the editorial list, like what Wizard comics magazine does for their drawn covers if you ever come across that mag.That way the retoucher also gets credit for his/her work. That’s just an idea.
I don’t think it should be banned as a photographer i do retouch my pics alot,but its more like removing blemishes and making the eyes pop. They have to keep the body proportions realistic because there are alot of young girls that dont understand that all those stars arent perfect, most of them would look less prettier than most of the normal girls if they would wear tons of make like them…be happy and healthy thats the only thing we can do! dont pursue perfection thats really dangerous!

She really is beautiful the way she looks normally, but of course when the picture is retouched, she looks better, because they make it look so perfect, but nobody’s perfect.
So if you get photoshop perfection standards, you’ll never find a girl that will visually please you.
And THAT is what makes it dangerous.
It’s so perfect that it’s unreal, but people think it’s real and then think “I’m going to get a girl like that” sure, sure…

I disagree with the prevailing view in this thread.
The lives of celebrities are patently fiction to begin with, so I find the use of Photoshop somewhat poetic.
Next, let’s ban autotune in all music and ban digital post-processing and all CG in films.
This is the wrong place to wage the battle for personal self-esteem.
After all, is it not easier for a self-conscious person to open Photoshop and level the playing field than to physically harm themselves, as in centuries past?

Ya it makes girls think they arent good enough this is what makes girls feel bad about them selfs if they would stop photoshopping people everybody would be ok and not freak out about their bodies its jsut rediculous how much they altair their apperence. Its inner beauty that counts not outer so yes banned photoshopping.

I agree. She look great anyway, and the fact that she’s athletic makes her more attractive anyway. A lot of guys don’t like skinny, bony, sickly looking girls. I actually prefer a girl that looks somewhat strong, i.e. has a bit of muscle (which adds a bit of thickness). I’m not talking about body builder women, just normal muscle tone.

Wow, you’re worked up! The perfect body shape IS impossible, because there is no definition of perfect that can be agreed upon by 100% of the earths population. Yeah I’ve seen hot girls, but they are hot according to MY view. And a lot of my female friends have admitted when I complement their looks that its painful to get dressed up that way. High-heels, painful bras, makeup causing break outs.
